Land and Environment Court advocacy and advisory work

5–8 years’ post-admission experience

Our client is an established full-service Australian law firm with a highly regarded Planning,

Environment & Governance practice. The team advises private developers, landowners,

corporations and government clients across complex planning, development, environmental and

public law matters.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planning and environment lawyer seeking

greater autonomy, direct client engagement and the prospect to take a leadership role within a

growing practice.

The role

Working closely with senior practitioners, you will manage a varied portfolio of advisory and contentious matters, including:

- Planning approvals, development consents and certification
- Land and Environment Court Class 1 and Class 4 proceedings
- Compliance, enforcement and environmental offences
- Local and State Government disputes
- Compensation and land valuation matters
- Strategic land-use planning and contaminated land
- Environmental licensing and natural resource management




- Access to public information and broader public law matters

You will have responsibility for the day-to-day conduct of files, including preparing advice and

submissions, reviewing expert reports, instructing counsel and representing clients at meetings,

directions hearings, motions and conciliation conferences.

As a Senior Associate, you will also mentor junior lawyers, contribute to client development

initiatives and help strengthen the team’s precedents and knowledge resources.

You will have:

- Approximately 5–8 years’ post-admission experience
- Strong knowledge of NSW planning and environment legislation and procedures
- Experience appearing in the NSW Land and Environment Court
- Well-developed drafting, advocacy and analytical skills
- The ability to manage matters independently and build trusted client relationships
- A collaborative approach and an interest in mentoring junior practitioners
