We're seeking experiencedIndustrial Powder Coatersfor day and night shift to join our Altona facility.

About the role
As an Industrial Powder Coater, you'll prepare and coat fabricated steel components to specification — from pre-treatment and masking through to application, cure and final inspection.
You'll be working on structural and architectural product destined for infrastructure projects, so consistency and attention to detail matter every time.

Key responsibilities
Prepare surfaces for coating — degreasing, pre-treatment, abrasive blasting, sanding and masking as required
Jig, hang and load components for optimal coverage and line efficiency
Apply thermoset powder coatings using electrostatic spray equipment to specified DFT
Operate and monitor curing ovens,



ensuring correct cure schedules for the product and coating system
Perform in-process and final quality checks — film thickness, adhesion, cure and finish — and record results
Work to project specifications and applicable standards (AS ****, AS/NZS **** duplex systems, AS **** where applicable)
Colour and batch changeovers, including booth clean-down and powder reclaim
Routine maintenance and fault-finding on guns, hoppers, booths and ovens
Identify and report non-conformances before product leaves the shop
Maintain a clean, safe and organised work area
Work with the shift team to hit production targets without cutting corners
What we're looking for
Essential
Demonstrated experience as a powder coater in an industrial or manufacturing environment
Competent with electrostatic spray application and film thickness control
Ability to read and work to job cards, coating specifications and colour requirements
Sound understanding of surface preparation and its impact on coating performance
Commitment to safe work practices and correct PPE use
Reliable, with the ability to commit to a day or night shift roster
Highly regarded
Trade qualification or Certificate III in Surface Preparation and Coating Application
Forklift licence
Working knowledge of coating inspection and QA documentation
Experience with wet industrial coatings as well as powder
Applicants must have full working rights in Australia.
