The role is based in Wangaratta and would be a great opportunity for candidates in Wangaratta or Wodonga and surrounding areas.

Help young people build safe, stable lives outside of residential care. At NESAY, you’ll work one-on-one with young people who have complex needs, crafting practical, therapeutic supports that change the trajectory of a life.

About the Program
Funded by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, Targeted Care Packagesoffer flexible, individualised support for young people at risk of entering (or transitioning from) residential care. The focus is on creating client-centered, sustainable living arrangements that promote stability and wellbeing.
What You’ll Do
- Provide intensive, one-on-one, relationship-based support to young people with complex needs involved with Child Protection
- Build strong, trusting relationships to promote safety, stability, and engagement
- Support young people to develop emotional regulation and coping skills
- Deliver flexible, young person-led activities aligned with individual care plans and family goals
- Create secure, engaging, and meaningful community-based experiences
- Contribute to the wellbeing, development, and long-term positive outcomes of young people
- Work collaboratively with families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams to support holistic care
What You’ll Bring
- Certificate III in Community Services or similar (highly desirable)
- Experience supporting vulnerable young people with complex needs
- Knowledge of trauma, attachment, and child development
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries in informal and dynamic environments
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Valid Driver’s License + ability to pass WWCC and Police Check

Key Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated ability to build rapport and engage effectively with young people with complex needs
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice and its application in a youth work context
- Ability to work independently in community settings while maintaining safety and qualified boundaries
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a care team
- Capacity to respond to challenging behaviours in a calm and effective manner
- Commitment to child safety, inclusion, and culturally safe practice
- Willingness to engage in ongoing learning, supervision, and reflective practice
