Planning Compliance Officer | Band 6 | Local Government
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Planning Compliance Officer to join a collaborative local government planning team.
In this role, you'll investigate planning complaints, enforce planning legislation and work closely with internal departments, external agencies and the community to achieve positive compliance outcomes. No two days are the same, with a mix of site inspections, investigations, stakeholder engagement and legal enforcement work.
About the role You'll be responsible for:
Investigating alleged breaches of the Planning & Workplace Act and planning permits.
Conducting site inspections and managing planning compliance investigations from start to finish.
Preparing reports, evidence and enforcement documentation.
Representing Council in VCAT, Magistrates' Court and other hearings where required.
Providing planning compliance advice to applicants, residents and internal stakeholders.
Working collaboratively with Planning, Building, Environmental Health and other regulatory teams to resolve complex compliance matters.
About you To be successful, you'll ideally have:
Local government experience is highly regarded
Experience in planning compliance, statutory planning, compliance investigations or a similar regulatory role.
A sound understanding of the Victorian Planning & Setting Act and planning enforcement processes.
Robust investigative, report writing and stakeholder management skills.
The confidence to manage complex compliance matters and represent your organisation professionally.
