Job DescriptionAs the Leading Hand, you will work closely with management, tradespeople, apprentices and trade assistants to help keep jobs moving efficiently, safely and to a high standard.This is not a desk-based supervisory role.
You will be actively involved in the work while also supporting the team with daily coordination, task allocation, quality checks and general job flow.Your role will include:Leading and supporting boilermakers, apprentices and trade assistantsAllocating tasks and assisting with daily job planningKeeping workshop and site-based jobs progressing efficientlyReading and interpreting drawings, sketches and job instructionsChecking measurements, materials and fabrication requirementsAssisting with fabrication, welding, repairs and modificationsSupporting breakdown and repair works on customer sitesEnsuring work is completed safely,



accurately and to client expectationsMonitoring workmanship and maintaining quality controlAssisting with material preparation and job set-upMaintaining safe work practices across workshop and site activitiesSupporting apprentices and junior workers with practical guidanceEnsuring workshop housekeeping, tools and equipment are maintainedCommunicating with management regarding job progress, issues and prioritiesAttending quarry, civil, mining and industrial sites as requiredAbout the CandidateTrade qualification (Boilermaker/Fabricator/Welder)Solid fabrication and repair experienceAbility to supervise and guide workshop staffGood communication and problem-solving skillsHigh attention to detail and pride in workmanshipCurrent driver's licenceDesirableForklift, dogging/rigging, EWP, WAH, confined spaceQuarry or mine-site experiencePlant and equipment repair experience
