With a strong operational footprint and a commitment to safe, sustainable outcomes, asset reliability and maintenance strategy play a critical role in how we operate and grow.We are seeking a Maintenance Strategy Engineer to lead the development and implementation of maintenance strategies that optimise asset performance, cost and reliability across our fleet.This is a genuinely broad role — suited to an engineer who wants to move beyond reactive maintenance and take ownership of whole-of-business maintenance strategy, partnering closely with operations, commercial and leadership teams.About The RoleAs Maintenance Strategy Engineer, you will provide end-to-end ownership of maintenance strategy across the business.
While maintenance planning and scheduling are key components, the role extends well beyond this to include asset performance optimisation, lifecycle costing, reliability improvement, compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.You will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure maintenance strategies are embedded into operational delivery and commercial decision-making, while proactively identifying opportunities to improve performance, reduce downtime and optimise cost.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement maintenance strategies to optimise cost, reliability and equipment availabilityEstablish and maintain Bills of Materials (BoMs), maintenance schedules and service documentationAnalyse asset performance, trends and failures to drive continuous improvement initiativesLead failure investigations, root cause analysis and rectification strategiesDrive transition to structured, planned maintenance approaches across the businessAct as custodian of asset specifications,



standards and technical documentationPartner with commercial teams to align maintenance strategies with pricing and lifecycle costingContribute to capital forecasting and scenario analysis for asset strategiesEnsure compliance with legislative, regulatory and company standardsPromote and embed a strong Zero Harm safety cultureProvide leadership, guidance and support to team members and stakeholdersCollaborate across the business to share best practice and drive consistencyAbout You:You're An Engineer WhoHolds tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred)Has solid experience in asset management, maintenance or reliability, ideally within mining or heavy industryHas demonstrated experience developing and implementing maintenance strategiesUnderstands asset lifecycle costing, performance optimisation and reliability principlesIs confident working across both technical and commercial aspects of the businessCommunicates clearly and influences stakeholders at all levelsApplies strong analytical thinking, problem solving and root cause analysis skillsThrives in a hands-on, operational environment with varied responsibilitiesLeadership experience and exposure to maintenance management systems will be highly regarded.Why Join Bis?
