Shape the Future of Public Health in Regional Australia
An outstanding opportunity is available for a Public Health Registrar to join a leading regional health service in Victoria, Australia, on a full-time fixed-term appointment until 31 January ****.
This role provides exceptional experience across a broad range of contemporary public health practice and is ideally suited to doctors intending to undertake, or currently completing, Advanced Training in Public Health Medicine through the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine (AFPHM), Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP).
Working within a well-established regional Public Health Unit, you will contribute to population health, communicable disease control, emergency preparedness, epidemiology and strategic public health planning while receiving structured supervision from experienced Public Health Physicians.
Position Highlights
Full-Time Fixed-Term appointment (to 31 January ****)
86 hours per fortnight
Salary in accordance with the Victorian Medical Officers Enterprise Agreement

The Role
As a Public Health Registrar, you will contribute across the full scope of modern public health practice, including:
Communicable disease prevention and control
Epidemiology and disease surveillance
Population health planning
Public health strategy and policy development
Emergency preparedness and response
Health protection activities




Health promotion programmes
Public health research and evaluation
Areas of Experience
Registrars gain exposure to a wide variety of public health activities, including:
Outbreak investigation and management
Communicable disease surveillance
Pandemic preparedness
Vaccine uptake and immunisation programmes
Sexual health initiatives
Population health strategy
Health inequalities and prevention programmes
Seasonal preparedness planning
Public health emergency responses
Environmental and climate-related health issues
Previous projects have included responses to:
Flood emergencies
Bushfire public health planning
Pandemic management
Community health resilience initiatives
Regional population health planning
Education & Professional Development
The successful applicant will receive:

Essential Requirements
Applicants should possess:
Medical degree recognised for registration in Australia.
Current or eligible registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
Eligibility for, or current enrolment in, Advanced Training in Public Health Medicine (AFPHM/RACP).
Demonstrated interest in population health, epidemiology and public health practice.
Excellent analytical, communication and project management skills.
Commitment to collaborative, evidence-based healthcare.
International medical graduates with suitable qualifications and eligibility for Australian registration are encouraged to enquire regarding training pathways.
