The Australian Ballet School is seeking aCasual Boarding Assistantto join our vibrant residential community atMarilyn Rowe House, where aspiring ballet dancers live, learn and thrive.
As a key member of our boarding team, you'll play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing and respectful environment that supports the personal and professional development and wellbeing of our students.
This is a hands-on, student-facing role ideal for someone who may be studying towards a post-graduate course in health, education, counselling and youth focused careers.
High achieving, post graduate students pursuing diverse careers with strong communication skills are valued as role models.
What You'll Do:
Provide caring and consistent supervision of boarding students during afternoons, evenings, weekends and public holidays
Monitor student wellbeing, routines, hygiene, and curfews, ensuring a safe and structured environment
Support students through active engagement, guidance and by maintaining clear professional boundaries
Assist with domestic tasks and help keep shared spaces tidy and welcoming
Supervise mealtimes and encourage respectful, inclusive behaviour
Respond to minor incidents, document concerns and escalate where needed
Accompany students on outings and assist with boarding house events and activities
Communicate effectively with staff and contribute to smooth shift handovers
Support new staff induction and help foster a positive team culture
What You'll Bring:
Experience working with adolescents in a residential, educational or recreational setting
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and connect with young people and colleagues
A genuine commitment to support the wellbeing, safety and personal development of students
Confidence to work independently,
exercise sound judgement and remain calm under pressure
A collaborative approach and commitment to fostering a positive, supportive team environment
A proactive, curious mindset with a willingness to learn and contribute
A positive attitude towards routine domestic tasks, including cleaning, tidying and organising boarding house spaces and settings
Respect for cultural diversity and a clear understanding of professional boundaries
Required Certifications:
Current Working with Children Check (Employee Type)
National Police Check
Level 2 First Aid
