Fiber Optic Technician – Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and motivatedFiber Optic Technicianto join our team.
The role will be in the Surat basin CSG sector.
In this role, you will be responsible for installing, testing, maintaining, and repairing fibre optic communication systems.
You will work both independently and as part of a team to ensure all installations meet industry standards and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Install, terminate, splice, and test fiber optic cables.
Conduct fault finding, troubleshooting, and repairs on fiber optic networks.
Perform OTDR, insertion loss, and continuity testing.
Read and interpret technical drawings, cable schedules, and network plans.
Install cable trays, conduits,



and associated infrastructure.
Complete all required documentation, test reports, and service records.
Ensure all work is completed safely and complies with company policies and industry standards.
Collaborate with project managers, electricians, and other trades to meet project deadlines.
Skills & Experience
Experience in fiber optic cable installation, splicing, and testing.
Proficiency with fiber optic testing equipment, including OTDRs and power meters.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Current driver's license.
Relevant fiber optic certifications or telecommunications experience (preferred).
