We are excited to welcome both apart-time (0.8 FTE)andfull-time Sexual Abuse Therapistto ourCairns Sexual Abuse Counselling Service team.
In this specialist therapeutic role, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children, young people, and their families.
Through trauma-informed and culturally safe practice, you'll support young people on their healing journey, helping them build safety, resilience, and confidence.
Working alongside caregivers, schools, and key stakeholders, you'll strengthen support networks and create opportunities for lasting positive change.
Your work will play an important role in helping children and families feel connected, supported, and empowered for the future.
Level 6 SCHCADS Award.
Salary range: $115,340 - $120,441 (pro-rata) + Superannuation.
Part-time [0.8FTE] or Full-time, Government funded contract opportunity until 30 June **** with possible extension.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver impactful therapeutic support:Provide trauma-informed assessment and counselling to children and young people experiencing or displaying harmful sexual behaviours.
Promote safety and prevention:Develop safety plans, deliver protective behaviour education, and work closely with families to reduce risk and strengthen protective networks.
Support whole-of-family outcomes:Build strong, collaborative relationships with caregivers, schools, and stakeholders to improve wellbeing and long-term outcomes.
Grow your expertise in a specialist space:Participate in supervision, case discussions, and ongoing development while contributing to a high-quality, evidence-based service.

About You
Hold a relevant tertiary qualification (allied health, social work,
human services) with professional registration (if required) and, a membership in a professional association (desirable).
At least two (2) years' experience working with children, young people and their families in similar therapeutic roles.
Eligibility to work in Australia (proof of eligibility required), including holding or obtaining required checks (Working with Children Check or professional exemption).
