Reditus Consulting Pty Ltd – Sydney CBD NSW
Your expertise deserves more than a production line
You have spent years developing real technical depth.
You can lead a site investigation, defend a risk assessment under scrutiny, and manage clients through complexity.
You know what positive looks like.
But somewhere along the way, the role stopped growing.
You are one of many senior scientists at a firm that measures output in billable hours, not outcomes.
Your name rarely appears on the decisions that matter.
Mentoring junior staff happens between deliverables, not because of them.
And the work itself - the work you trained for - feels increasingly disconnected from any meaningful result.
That is not ambition failing.
That is the wrong setting.
About the Role
This is a senior technical and project leadership role for a scientist who is ready to own their work from the first conversation with a client to the final validated outcome - and to help shape how the next generation of environmental scientists develops their craft.
You will work with genuine autonomy, managing a portfolio of meaningful projects without layers of oversight slowing you down.
You will be close to the science, close to clients, and part of a leadership team that treats your expertise as a contribution, not a resource.
What you will be doing:
Leading preliminary and detailed site investigations, groundwater monitoring programs, soil vapour and landfill gas assessments, surface water assessments, waste classifications, and remedial validation works
Managing multiple projects simultaneously,
including scoping, budgeting, scheduling and financial reporting, with minimal supervision
Making defensible, evidence-based decisions in the field and translating complex findings into clear advice for clients and regulators
Managing subcontractors and external stakeholders with confidence and clarity
Supporting business development by identifying new opportunities, contributing to proposals and maintaining strong client relationships
Actively mentoring junior and mid-level scientists, creating structured opportunities for their growth through direct project involvement
Contributing to Reditus quality systems, peer review processes and a culture of continuous improvement
What You Will Bring
A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in contamination and groundwater science, with a track record of leading investigations independently
A bachelor's degree (or higher) in environmental science, geology, chemistry, environmental engineering, or a closely related field
Strong working knowledge of contaminated land legislation, guidelines and regulatory frameworks applicable in New South Wales
Demonstrated project management capability - the ability to scope, price, resource, schedule and deliver on time and on budget
A commitment to technical defensibility: you apply sound scientific principles, seek peer input, and stand behind your advice
Progress toward or achievement of EIANZ Certified Environmental Practitioner (CEnvP) status, or a genuine commitment to pursuing it
