Your next career opportunity In this Makerspaces Supervisor role, you will lead safe, high‐quality technical spaces supporting engineering teaching and research.
You will guide users through industry‐aligned training, mentoring students and staff to build practical, future‐ready skills.
You will also supervise technicians, drive safety culture and enhance makerspace processes and equipment management.
What you will deliver:
Lead day-to-day makerspace operations, supervising technicians to deliver safe, consistent, high‐quality fabrication services.
Provide specialist technical advice, CAD/CAM design and CNC fabrication support for teaching, research and student projects.
Design, deliver and assess competency‐based training, adapting instruction to diverse learning needs and experience levels.




Embed a strong safety culture through Safety-in-Design practices, risk management, compliance and equipment maintenance.
Collaborate with Workshop Supervisor and stakeholders to plan resources, align rosters and improve processes across spaces.
You may be a great fit if you:
Hold a relevant degree or trade qualification, or equivalent experience supporting technical teaching or research facilities.
Demonstrate extensive CAD/CAM and engineering design expertise, including CNC workflows and design‐for‐manufacture processes.
Lead small technical teams effectively, delivering high‐quality services within workshop or makerspace teaching environments.
Apply strong knowledge of Australian occupational health and safety legislation and multidisciplinary trade risk management.
Possess qualifications in one or more trades, such as machining, fabrication, mechatronics, electronics or digital fabrication.
Offer deep experience in advanced systems, for example embedded control, robotics, AI, automation, plumbing or gas fitting.
