This is an exciting opportunity to lead Darebin City Council's Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) and influence how major projects are governed, prioritised and delivered across the organisation. Working closely with Executive leaders, you will provide strategic oversight of Council's project portfolio, strengthen governance and reporting, and help drive successful delivery of capital, infrastructure and organisational initiatives.
As the EPMO Lead, you will also play a key role in building project management capability, embedding best-practice frameworks and driving continuous improvement. This role offers the chance to make a lasting impact on Council's project delivery performance and the outcomes achieved for the Darebin community
About the role:
As the
EPMO Lead
, you will establish, lead and continuously improve Darebin's Enterprise Project Management Office, providing governance, assurance and strategic oversight across Council's project and program portfolio.
You will design and embed project management frameworks, oversee portfolio reporting and assurance activities, and provide trusted advice to Executive leaders on project prioritisation, performance and investment decisions.
Working across all divisions, you will drive greater consistency in project delivery, build organisational capability through coaching and training, and help ensure Council's projects deliver lasting benefits for the Darebin community.
You will:
Lead the development and ongoing maturity of Darebin's Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO), strengthening project governance, assurance and delivery across Council.
Partner with Executive leaders and key stakeholders to provide strategic advice on project prioritisation, investment decisions and portfolio performance.
Establish and embed consistent project management frameworks, reporting and assurance processes that support successful project outcomes.
Drive organisation-wide project management capability through coaching, mentoring and continuous improvement initiatives.
Provide oversight of Council's project portfolio, helping ensure projects are delivered efficiently, risks are managed effectively, and benefits are realised for the community.
About you:
You will bring:
Demonstrated experience leading or managing a PMO, EPMO or similar governance function within a complex organisation.
Solid knowledge of project, program and portfolio management frameworks, governance, assurance, risk management and performance reporting.
Proven ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels, including senior executives.
Experience driving organisational project management maturity through coaching, mentoring, continuous improvement and the implementation of best-practice approaches.
Relevant tertiary qualifications and project management certifications (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, MSP or equivalent), with experience in local government, infrastructure or capital works environments highly regarded.
