Regional Livestock Exchanges (RLX) is a leading agriculture organisation with core strengths of Infrastructure Management, stock handling and sales services, our operations are located throughout the eastern seaboard. This role is located in at Tamworth- Livestock Exchange (TRLX). TRLX draws livestock from as far south as Dubbo, deep into the Hunter Valley and as far North as Tenterfield and Goondiwindi.
Apart from sale day services, TRLX offers a variety of other services such as transit spelling, bunk feeding, yard weaning and animal health treatments. TRLX is also a great bull selling facility.
About the Role
Are you an experienced maintenance leader who enjoys keeping critical infrastructure operating safely, reliably and efficiently? This is an opportunity to take ownership of maintenance performance in a fast-paced livestock environment, leading proactive planning, hands-on problem solving and team coordination to ensure the site remains operational, compliant and ready to support day-to-day business activity.
Key Responsibilities
Lead maintenance activities in partnership with the Business/Site Manager to achieve and exceed operational compliance requirements, including WH&S;, relevant legislation, licensing obligations and applicable codes of practice.
Take responsibility for the proactive identification, planning, coordination and documentation of maintenance activities to support continuous site operations and maintain the site to a high standard.
Oversee the maintenance management system, ensuring works are prioritised, scheduled, recorded and completed in a timely manner, with purchasing coordinated through the Business/Site Manager in line with finance processes and expectations.
Plan, allocate and supervise maintenance work across the site,
including oversight of maintenance team members, contractors and day-to-day work priorities.
Drive a proactive maintenance culture by identifying risks, addressing emerging issues early and ensuring critical infrastructure, plant and equipment are available, safe and operating correctly.
Coordinate planned and preventative maintenance programs to minimise downtime, improve reliability and support efficient livestock operations.
Maintain appropriate spare parts, tools and consumables to enable efficient response times, reduce operational disruption and support effective maintenance delivery.
Qualifications and Skills
Proven experience in plant and equipment maintenance.
Light Fabrication and welding experience.
Knowledge of plant and equipment such as loaders, tractors, feed mixers
Knowledge of pumps and livestock watering systems.
Strong problem-solving skills, sound judgement and the ability to prioritise work in a busy operational setting.
Excellent communication, collaboration and team leadership skills.
Willingness to work in a dynamic operational environment where proactive maintenance, practical leadership and a strong focus on infrastructure reliability are
