Mechanical Fitter / Service Technician

This is an opportunity to work on a wide variety of pumps and rotating equipment for major customers across mining, power, water, oil & gas and heavy industry.

About the Role
As a Service Technician, you'll be responsible for servicing, repairing and rebuilding centrifugal pumps and associated rotating equipment in our Gladstone workshop, with occasional field service work at customer sites.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Strip, inspect, repair and rebuild pumps and rotating equipment
Diagnose faults and recommend repair solutions
Complete pump, gearbox and motor assemblies
Perform precision alignments using dial indicators and laser alignment equipment
Conduct hydrostatic testing
Read engineering drawings and follow technical procedures
Manufacture or modify components where required
Carry out final testing, cleaning and painting of completed equipment
Complete inspection reports and job documentation
Maintain a safe, clean and organised workshop




Occasionally travel to customer sites for field service work
About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys quality workmanship and takes pride in delivering excellent service.
You'll ideally have:
Mechanical Fitter Trade Qualification
Minimum 6 years' practical fitting experience (including apprenticeship)
Experience with pumps, rotating equipment or industrial machinery (preferred)
Strong fault-finding and mechanical assembly skills
Ability to read engineering drawings
Commitment to safe work practices
Good communication skills and a positive team attitude
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)
