Strategic Communications Leadership Opportunity
Shape Council's Reputation and Community Engagement
Attractive Salary Package and Advantages
Situated just 16 kilometres from the city on Sydney's leafy North Shore, Ku-ring-gai is known for its natural beauty and urban villages. It's a picturesque lifestyle with clean waterways, striking wildlife and action-packed events, supported by excellent services and infrastructure. Ku-ring-gai Council is committed to delivering high-quality services and positive outcomes for the community.
Reporting to the Director Community, you will lead Council's corporate communications, media, marketing, digital communications, community engagement and economic development functions. You will also provide strategic leadership for economic development initiatives, supporting business engagement and a resilient, sustainable local economy. Working within a complex political and community setting, you will lead a multidisciplinary team and build productive relationships with the media, government agencies, community stakeholders, local businesses and industry partners.
To be considered, you will hold relevant tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism,

public relations, marketing or another appropriate discipline. You will bring extensive experience in strategic communications, media relations, stakeholder engagement, reputation management and issues management, ideally within local government or the public sector.
You will be a politically astute and influential leader with exceptional communication, strategic thinking and relationship management skills. Your ability to identify emerging risks, opportunities and trends will enable you to deliver proactive strategies that support Council's priorities and strengthen community confidence.
This is an outstanding opportunity to shape Council's communications and engagement approach, protect its reputation and contribute to the future economic prosperity of the Ku-ring-gai community.
