Mid–Senior Building Designer – Contractor

YDG is seeking an experienced Mid–Senior Building Designer to join our Essendon-based team on a contractor basis with possibility of full time employment.
This opportunity would suit a capable designer who can work independently, take ownership of projects and produce high-quality documentation using Revit.
About the chance
You will contribute across all stages of our residential/commercial/mixed-use projects—from initial concepts and design development through to detailed documentation and approvals.
You will coordinate project requirements, communicate with clients and consultants, and ensure work is delivered accurately and on schedule.
Key responsibilities
Develop design concepts and detailed project documentation using Revit
Prepare drawings for planning applications and building permits
Manage assigned projects through the design and documentation stages
Coordinate with clients, consultants, builders and relevant authorities
Review project information and resolve design or documentation issues
Ensure drawings comply with relevant planning requirements, building regulations and the National Construction Code
Maintain accurate project records and meet agreed deadlines
Collaborate with our internal team as required
To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:
Mid-level or senior experience as a Building Designer, Architectural Designer or Documenter




Strong Revit skills and experience producing detailed construction documentation
A relevant qualification in building design, architecture or a related discipline
Sound knowledge of Victorian planning and building requirements
A good understanding of construction methods and detailing
The ability to manage projects and work with minimal supervision
Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail
An active ABN and the ability to invoice for your services
Appropriate professional and public liability insurance
Australian working rights
Experience coordinating consultants and managing projects through planning and building approval stages will be highly regarded.
