Electrical Designer
CD Power Pty Ltd is seeking an Electrical Designer to join our engineering team and contribute to the design and delivery of innovative power generation solutions.
At CD Power, we design and build practical power systems used in critical environments across Australia and the Pacific. This role offers the opportunity to work across the full project lifecycle—from detailed electrical design through to factory testing and in office commissioning support.
We specialise in diesel- and gas-powered generators and hybrid power systems. Our projects are practical, fast-moving, and technically interesting, with plenty of variety and no two weeks looking the same.
About the role
As an Electrical Designer, you will work closely with engineers, project teams, manufacturing, and service personnel to deliver high-quality electrical designs and supporting documentation for generator sets, switchboards, and control systems.
You'll be involved in translating engineering concepts into build-ready designs and ensuring systems are reliable, compliant, and fit for real-world operation.
Key responsibilities
The electrical engineering and design of CD Power products.
Producing CAD schematics and other design documents to translate designs for construction by the CD Power manufacturing team.
Bills of Materials for the procurement team.
Supporting technical documentation, including:
Engine Power Calculations, Cable Schedules & Termination Diagrams, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and commissioning documentation, Technical specifications, Tendering for external suppliers.
Creation of machine control configurations (DeepSea, ComAP etc) and custom PLC logic.
Participate in factory testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance verification activities.
Training and support of junior staff to help growth within the business.
Contribute to the development and implementation of engineering processes and procedures to improve business efficiency.
Ability to travel to customer sites if required.
About you
We're after someone practical, detail-focused, and comfortable working in a technical environment where reliability matters.
Experience in electrical design within power generation environments
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD.
Solid understanding in the creation of low-voltage power systems and control circuits
Ability to interpret and apply Australian Standards
Experience producing technical documentation
Familiarity with engines, generator control systems, ECU's, Governors, Inverters etc.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple project tasks
Good communication skills and ability to work across engineering, manufacturing, and field teams
Electrical engineering degree or electrical trade qualifications.
