We are currently seeking a reliable and safety-focused
Yardperson / Forklift Operator
to join a busy and dynamic yard operation based in
Emerald
. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, operating machinery, and being part of a practical, team-oriented environment.
The Role
Your duties will include:
Plant & Equipment Operation
Operating a forklift to load and move cardboard and recyclable materials safely
Operating an 8-tonne excavator to load waste into designated bins
Conducting daily pre-start checks and reporting faults
Yard Operations
General yard tidying,
cleaning and housekeeping
Managing waste and recyclable material streams
Baling cardboard and assisting with waste processing
Maintaining clear and protected access areas
Paper Shredding & Waste Processing
Undertaking shredding duties in line with confidentiality procedures
Handling materials safely and in accordance with environmental guidelines
Safety & Compliance
Working in accordance with WHS policies and site procedures
Using PPE correctly at all times
Reporting hazards, incidents and near misses promptly
End of Shift Duties
Correctly shutting down and securing plant
Leaving the yard clean, safe and organised
About You
To be successful in this role, you must have:
Current Forklift Licence (essential)
Truck Licence (highly desirable)
Experience operating plant and equipment in a yard or similar environment
Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
Ability to work safely around moving vehicles and machinery
Reliable work ethic and team-focused attitude
Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing
