Job description:About the role
We're seeking a commercial professional to join our WesCEF Energy Transition team.
Depending on your experience, capability and track record, you will be considered for appointment as either a Project Principal or Senior Analyst.
Working closely with senior business leaders, technical specialists and external stakeholders, you will provide strategy development, advanced commercial evaluation and decision support for climate-related growth and abatement opportunities at WesCEF.
Key responsibilities will include:
Own and deliver complex commercial workstreams for climate growth and abatement opportunities.
Develop commercial recommendations supported by analysis, evidence and sound judgement.




Negotiate and work with external stakeholders to progress projects to achieve strong commercial outcomes.
Monitor emerging climate, carbon and energy market developments and translate them into practical business implications, working with senior business leaders to develop strategies to respond.
Develop and review sophisticated financial models, including DCF models, scenario analysis and sensitivity testing.
Evaluate growth, decarbonisation and emissions abatement opportunities.
Identify value drivers, risks, trade-offs and investment considerations to support decision-making.
Prepare compelling business cases, executive papers, Board materials and presentations.
Work with commercial, technical, operational, legal, accounting and tax stakeholders to progress opportunities and projects.
Coach and mentor junior analysts while contributing to a high-performing team culture.
For candidates appointed at the Project Principal level, the role will also include initiating and leading multiple complex projects, negotiating and reviewing contracts and developing decision-ready materials for the Board and Executive Leadership Team.
About You
You enjoy solving complex problems; have a strong record of working with ambiguity, influencing strategic outcomes through data-driven insights and leading projects; and you have excellent financial modelling capabilities.
To be successful, you will bring:
Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Finance, Science, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience in leading and delivering multidisciplinary projects or complex workstreams, ideally within energy, resources, infrastructure, climate or industrial sectors.
Experience in developing sound commercial strategies to respond to change.
Strong commercial analysis and financial modelling experience.
Ability to form well-supported commercial views using evidence, industry understanding and judgement under uncertainty.
Strong understanding of valuation, cost drivers, revenue streams, project economics and investment decision-making.




The ability to distil complex information into clear commercial recommendations for senior stakeholders.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills.
