We are seeking a hands-on Site Manager to lead our Darlington Point milling operation and Hay storage site.
About the Role
Reporting to the National Operations Manager, the Site Manager is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, safety and operational performance of our Darlington Point mill and Hay storage site.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a strong and visible presence across site operations.
You will spend significant time working alongside employees on the production floor and across operational areas, ensuring safe and efficient operations while building a positive, high-performance culture.
You will be responsible for coordinating grain receival, storage, milling, production, maintenance, logistics, inventory management and quality activities, while working closely with the National Operations Manager to achieve operational and business objectives.
A strong customer focus is essential.
We are looking for a leader who understands the critical importance of our customers and takes ownership of ensuring orders are delivered in full, on time and to specification.
You will proactively work across production, inventory, logistics and customer requirements to deliver outstanding service and build long-term customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and promote a strong safety culture across all site operations.




Maintain a visible presence across operational areas and provide hands-on leadership to site teams.
Coordinate production, grain handling, storage, milling, maintenance and logistics activities across both sites.
Ensure operational targets relating to throughput, quality, customer service and cost performance are achieved.
Lead workforce performance management, training, development and recruitment activities.
Monitor and improve site performance through KPI reporting and operational reviews.
Work collaboratively across the business to anticipate and resolve supply, production or logistics issues that may impact customer service levels.
Coordinate maintenance activities and work with contractors to maximise plant reliability and minimise downtime.
Ensure compliance with food safety, HACCP, GMP, quality systems and customer requirements.
Oversee grain inventory, stocktakes, receivals, transfers, dispatch and order fulfilment activities.
Monitor site costs, identify efficiency improvements and support cost-saving initiatives.
Build strong relationships with employees, contractors, suppliers, transport providers and customers.
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality and operational efficiency.
Requirements & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Minimum 5 years' experience leading manufacturing, processing, grain handling, food production, agricultural or site-based operations teams.




Experience managing complex operational environments, including 24/7 or multi-shift operations.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop and hold teams accountable.
Demonstrated experience managing safety, people and operational performance outcomes.
Experience working within HACCP, GMP, SQF or similar food safety and quality environments.
Demonstrated customer focus, with the ability to balance operational priorities whilst delivering high levels of customer service and responsiveness.
Robust commercial awareness and an understanding of operational cost drivers.
Excellent problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.
A proactive and hands-on leadership style with a strong commitment to workplace safety.
Desirable experience includes:
Grain milling, flour milling, grain handling, stockfeed or food manufacturing environments.
Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement programs.
Forklift Licence.
Authorised Officer (AO) accreditation.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Agriculture, Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management or Business.
