The opportunity
Join the City in a senior leadership role overseeing statutory
planning, land administration, building surveying and compliance
services, delivering high quality, accurate and customer-focused
outcomes for the community.
This position provides strategic and
operational leadership to multidisciplinary teams, ensuring
development and regulatory services are delivered in line with
Western Australian planning and building frameworks, Council
policy, and the City's vision for sustainable growth, community
safety and place quality.
As a key member of the Management Team, you will lead complex
development assessments, represent the City in Development
Assessment Panels and tribunals, and provide high-level technical
advice to Elected Members, stakeholders and the community.
You will
drive a positive organisational culture, ensure strong compliance
and risk management practices, and foster collaborative
partnerships to deliver integrated development outcomes that
support the City's long-term strategic objectives.
To be successful in this role, you will
need:
Degree in town planning, building surveying, architecture,
urban design or a related discipline
Possession of, or progression towards, a Post Graduate
qualification in Management; or equivalent relevant
experience
Eligibility for membership of a relevant professional
body
Current unrestricted C class national driver's licence
At least 5 years within a similar role.
Demonstrated senior level experience in statutory planning,
building surveying or development regulation.
Proven experience leading multidisciplinary professional
teams in a local government context.
Comprehensive understanding of the Western Australian
planning and building frameworks.
Experience representing or advising local government in
court, tribunals and mediation processes.

This position attracts a competitive negotiated salary range of
$178,000 to $182,000 dependent on qualifications and experience,
14% superannuation and a wide range of benefits to reward your
contribution.
