Looking for a remarkable change?
You know, the kind that takes you to bigger and better places and delivers the kudos to match.
Well, good news.
La Vida Homes are on the hunt for our first ever Health & Safety Advisor and the role has your name on it.
This is your opportunity to join a proven, growing (and, did we say, fun?!) team specialising in building project homes all across Perth's greenfield estates.
The successful applicant will be rewarded with excellent working conditions, flexible working hours, advanced tech, and a family-friendly environment.
A bit about La Vida Homes
Before we jump into all the details about the role and why we think it's the best one going, we should probably introduce ourselves...
Heya!
We're La Vida Homes, the life-shaping, game-changing, booty-shaking team behind Perth's recent-ish building company.
It's great to meet you.
La Vida means 'life' in Latin and that's exactly what we're all about.
We believe life is pretty remarkable.
Every day is an opportunity to make a mark on the world.
To say, "I was here. I made moves that mattered; experienced it all."
So, that's exactly what we're doing.
Without the heavy layers of big builder bureaucracy, La Vida Homes isn't just championing real change - we are acting on it.
Offering fixed pricing, transparent processes, unique experiences, and faster build times.
And that's just the beginning.
About the role
Reporting to the Head of Construction, this brand new stand-alone role is an amazing opportunity to make your mark - it will have you regularly out on site with our construction teams, as well as being at your desk in the office, taking us to the next level with our health & safety systems!
It will be a busy role, with a lot of autonomy, yet requiring a coaching approach to ensure health & safety is always front of mind.
Key tasks include:
Manage our health & safety systems,
policies and documentation across WA and SA, ensuring compliance while also driving continuous improvement
Support high risk construction activities and undertake risk assessments and SWMS review
Conduct site & office inspections and complete formal audits, while taking responsibility for ensuring that corrective actions are closed out and hazards appropriate managed
Overseeing subcontractor compliance, ensuring they have the right qualifications and insurances, while ensuring SWMS are appropriate and monitoring compliance
Incident management including root cause analysis, corrective actions and supporting return to work processes (although we hope there won't be many, or any!)
Professional, practical and pragmatic health & safety advice, together with delivery of safety toolbox talks and safety training programs
This is a permanent full time role working primarily in WA (from the office and on-site) with regular travel to South Australia required.
A bit about you
This is a special role
And, when it comes to boxes, we hope you tick most of them:
Cert IV or Diploma in Work Health & Safety, combined with strong knowledge of health & safety legislation in WA (and preferably in SA too or the ability to learn quickly)
White Card and current drivers licence (the basics!)
Construction industry experience (or at least broad industry experience with the desire to learn the residential construction space)
Strong communication, interpersonal and influencing/coaching skills (the ability to engage at all levels and drive a positive safety culture)
Problem solver and strategic thinker (that doesn't just focus on compliance and what the rule book says)
It is a bonus if you have residential construction experience, incident investigation training or return to work coordinator experience.
