For more than 40 years, the North Qld Export Terminal, located at the Port of Abbot Point, has demonstrated its commitment to safety, efficiency, responsibility, and partnership with the local community.
Abbot Point Operations Pty Ltd (APO) has been contracted by North Queensland Export Terminal Pty Ltd to manage operations of its coal export terminal at the Port of Abbot Point—Australia's northernmost coal port—located 25 kilometres north of Bowen, between Townsville and Mackay, serving as the gateway to the Whitsundays.
We are seeking a proven senior leader to take on the role of
Manager – Engineering Services and Project Delivery
.
This position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and is a key member of our Senior Leadership Team.
You will be entrusted with shaping our asset management strategy, developing and overseeing our continuous five-year capital works program, and ensuring the safe, efficient, and sustainable delivery of core infrastructure projects.
You will also provide high-level engineering leadership, optimise systems, and guide technical teams to deliver outcomes that will define the terminal's performance for decades to come.
What You'll Do:
Lead and mentor the Engineering Services and Projects Delivery teams to deliver high-performing results.
Oversee the development of APO's Life of Asset strategy and integrated Life of Asset planning to optimise investment across capital and reliability maintenance strategies.
Drive the planning, design, and execution of APO's multi-year capital program.
Ensure project delivery meets strict safety, regulatory, and operational standards.
Provide strategic engineering insights to the Chief Operating Officer and senior leadership team.
Oversee contractor and stakeholder engagement, ensuring seamless collaboration and quality outcomes.
Maintain full oversight of project performance, risk, and budget compliance.
What We're Looking For:
Significant experience in delivering large-scale sustaining capital project programs in industrial, infrastructure, or port and terminal environments.
Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline.
Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex contractor relationships.
A deep understanding of project governance, asset lifecycle management, and technical risk management.
Strong commercial acumen and a commitment to safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.
