Grove Estate Wines is looking for a friendly, reliable and confident casual team member to join our cellar door and front-of-house team in Young, NSW.

This is a hands-on hospitality role focused on bar service, wine tastings, customer service, waiting, weddings and events. You do not need previous winery or cellar door experience, although hospitality, bar, wine, events or customer-service experience is welcomed.

Current NSW Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) competency is mandatory for this position.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Cellar Door Assistant, you will work across Grove Estate's cellar door, bar, tasting area, tables, weddings and events. You will help deliver warm and efficient service while keeping the bar, customer areas and venue ready for trade.

The role is primarily front-of-house. You may serve wine and other beverages, conduct wine tastings, make standard cocktails and mixed drinks, take orders and payments, greet and seat customers, provide general waiting and table service, run food and canapes, transparent and reset tables, restock fridges and glassware, and assist with event setup and pack-down.

Food preparation and catering are only incidental to the position. From time to time you may be asked to assist the Catering Operations Coordinator with simple food tasks such as pizza support, grazing-plate assembly, plating, food running or canape preparation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Serve customers at the cellar door and bar in a warm, efficient and professional manner.
- Conduct Grove Estate wine tastings using approved tasting formats and product information.
- Pour and serve wine, beer and other approved beverages.
- Prepare standard cocktails and mixed drinks to established recipes and presentation standards.
- Use POS and other approved systems to take orders, receive payments and process routine sales accurately.
- Take reservations, greet and seat customers and answer routine questions about Grove Estate wines, tastings, offers and cellar door products.
- Undertake general waiting and table-service duties where required,



including taking and delivering food and beverage orders.
- Run prepared food, grazing plates and canapes to tables, functions and event areas.
- Provide water service and practical customer support during regular trade, group bookings, weddings and events.
- Clear used plates, cutlery and glassware and wipe and reset tables during and after service.
- Monitor customer areas during busy periods and respond to routine service needs.
- Restock wine, beer, beverages, glassware, ice, water, soft drinks, napkins and other front-of-house stock.
- Assist with routine fridge, bar and beverage-stock movements, deliveries and organisation.
- Wash, dry, polish and return glassware, dishes, utensils and service equipment.
- Complete routine bar, cellar door and service-area cleaning.
- Assist with setup, service and pack-down for weddings, private functions, public events, group bookings and busy cellar door periods.
- Provide bar service, wine service, general waiting, canape running, clearing, replenishment and customer support during events.
- Where required, assist with incidental catering tasks including simple food preparation, pizza support, grazing plates, plating, food running and canape preparation under direction.
- Follow NSW RSA requirements and Grove Estate's liquor-service procedures, including appropriate ID checks and responsible service practices.
- Follow relevant food-safety, hygiene and workplace safety procedures.
- Report hazards, breakages, spills, RSA concerns, customer issues or injuries promptly.

- Warm, friendly and professional with customers and colleagues.
- Reliable and punctual, particularly for weekend,



wedding and event shifts.
- Comfortable speaking with customers, working behind a bar and learning about wine.
- Happy to conduct tastings and provide general waiting and table service when required.
- Able to follow instructions, RSA requirements and established service procedures.
- Comfortable staying active and working at a steady pace during busy periods.
- Observant and willing to notice what needs serving, clearing, restocking, cleaning or following up.
- Flexible and willing to move between the bar, tasting area, tables, food running, events and general front-of-house support as required.

REQUIREMENTS

- Current NSW Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) competency.
- Legal right to work in Australia.
- Ability and willingness to work casual shifts at Grove Estate in Young, NSW.
- Availability for regular Friday, Saturday and Sunday work is expected, particularly Saturdays, together with weddings, events, evenings and other peak periods.
- Willingness to complete Grove Estate induction, wine and product training, safety, food-handler and operational training relevant to the duties performed.

No previous winery or cellar door experience or formal hospitality qualification is required.

HOURS & EMPLOYMENT

This is a casual position. Shifts are offered according to business requirements and there is no guarantee of work on any particular day or of a minimum number of hours. Regular weekend availability is expected, but actual shifts will vary according to business needs.

Grove Estate presently expects the Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2020 to apply. The role is designed around Food and Beverage Attendant Grade 2 - Level 2.

Casual remuneration will be no less than the applicable Award minimum and will include applicable casual loading, penalty rates, allowances and superannuation.
