Grove Estate Wines is looking for a reliable, energetic and practical casual team member to support our catering and cellar door operation in Young, NSW.

This is an entry-level, hands-on hospitality support role suited to someone entering the industry, building early work experience or looking for regular weekend and event work. Previous hospitality experience is welcome but not essential. What matters most is a good attitude, reliability, cleanliness, willingness to learn and being comfortable working as part of a busy team.

The role supports our Catering Operations Coordinator and wider cellar door team with basic food preparation, simple food running, clearing, dishes, cleaning, restocking, setup and pack-down.

RSA is not required for this position.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will help keep Grove Estate's kitchen, food service and cellar door running smoothly during busy weekends, weddings, functions and events.

The work is practical and varied. You may help top pizzas, assemble grazing plates, salads, canape components or desserts, run prepared food to identified tables, clear and reset tables, wash and polish dishes and glassware, restock fridges and service items, or help with event setup and pack-down.

This is a support role rather than a cooking, waiting or management position. You will work under the direction of the Catering Operations Coordinator and may also take practical shift direction from the Senior Cellar Door Operations Manager or another appointed shift lead.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assist with basic food preparation to established recipes and instructions.
- Prepare and assemble simple ingredients and components such as pizza toppings, salads, grazing items, garnishes, canape components, desserts and other approved food.
- Assist with portioning, plating, packaging, replenishment and simple service preparation.
- Help set up and pack down food-preparation areas, kitchen stations and event catering areas.
- Keep ingredients, utensils, trays, containers and preparation areas organised and ready for use.




- Run prepared food from the kitchen or service area to identified tables, functions and event areas as directed.
- Collect used plates, cutlery and glassware and return them to the appropriate wash or clearing area.
- Explicit, wipe and reset tables and help keep customer-facing spaces clean, tidy and ready for service.
- Assist with food-service setup including water stations, napkins, cutlery and other service items.
- Wash, dry, polish and return dishes, utensils, trays and glassware safely and efficiently.
- Complete routine kitchen and service-area cleaning including benches, sinks, floors, shelving, bins and other assigned areas.
- Restock glassware, beverages, fridges, napkins, cutlery, takeaway items and other service consumables.
- Let the relevant supervisor know when stock, cleaning supplies or service items are running low.
- Assist with setup and pack-down for weddings, private functions, public events, group bookings and busy cellar door periods.
- Support catering during events with basic prep, food running, tray collection, replenishment, clearing, dishes, glassware and cleaning.
- Help move tables, chairs, service equipment and other light venue items where safe and directed.
- Move between kitchen, clearing, food running, cleaning and general venue-support tasks according to operational priorities.
- Follow Grove Estate's food-safety, hygiene, cleaning, sanitising, allergen and safety procedures.
- Report hazards, spills, breakages, food-safety concerns, customer issues or injuries promptly.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for someone who is:

- Reliable and punctual, particularly for weekend and event shifts.
- Friendly, respectful and comfortable working around customers and a hospitality team.




- Willing to undertake practical work including food preparation, dishes, cleaning and clearing.
- Able to follow instructions and established food-safety and cleaning procedures.
- Comfortable staying active and working at a steady pace during busy periods.
- Observant and willing to notice what needs clearing, restocking or cleaning without always waiting to be asked.
- Willing to learn and take feedback.

No previous hospitality experience or formal qualification is required, although relevant experience is welcomed.

REQUIREMENTS

- Legal right to work in Australia.
- Ability and willingness to work casual shifts at Grove Estate in Young, NSW.
- Availability for regular Friday, Saturday and Sunday work is expected, particularly Saturdays, together with weddings, events and other peak periods.
- Willingness to complete Grove Estate induction, food-handler, safety and operational training relevant to the duties performed.
- Ability to safely undertake the physical requirements of a hospitality support role, including standing for extended periods and carrying reasonable trays, dishes, stock or service items.
- RSA is not required for this position.

HOURS & EMPLOYMENT

This is a casual position. Shifts are offered according to business requirements and there is no guarantee of work on any particular day or of a minimum number of hours. Regular weekend availability is expected, but actual shifts will vary according to business needs.

Grove Estate presently expects the Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2020 to apply. The role is designed around Level 1, principally aligned with Kitchen Attendant Grade 1 and Food and Beverage Attendant Grade 1 duties.

Casual remuneration will be no less than the applicable Award minimum and will include applicable casual loading, penalty rates, allowances and superannuation. Junior rates may apply where permitted by the Award.
