We are looking for a skilled and dependable Motor Mechanic to join our team and deliver high-quality mechanical services across a range of lightweight motor vehicles. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining petrol engines and associated mechanical systems to ensure vehicles operate safely and efficiently. Key Responsibilities
Diagnose faults across engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, braking systems, and other mechanical components using both manual inspection and computer-assisted diagnostic tools
Dismantle and remove engine assemblies and mechanical parts for thorough inspection, identifying worn, damaged, or defective components requiring repair or replacement
Repair and replace faulty parts, reassemble mechanical systems, and reference manufacturer service manuals to ensure work meets specification
Perform scheduled maintenance services including oil changes, fluid top-ups, filter replacements, and tune-ups to optimise vehicle performance and ensure compliance with emissions and pollution regulations
Test and adjust mechanical components following repair, verifying correct operation and performance to the required standard
Inspect vehicles to assess roadworthiness and either issue relevant certificates or prepare detailed reports outlining the work required to meet compliance standards
Carry out safety inspections and pre-delivery checks on vehicles to confirm they are fit for road use before returning them to customers
Maintain accurate and up-to-date service records, job cards, and documentation in line with workshop procedures
Communicate clearly with service advisors and customers regarding fault findings, recommended repairs, and estimated timeframes
Keep the workshop clean, organised, and compliant with workplace health and safety requirements, ensuring tools and equipment are properly maintained
Stay current with advances in vehicle technology, manufacturer updates, and industry best practices through ongoing training and development
Required Qualifications & Skills
Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (AUR30620) or equivalent trade qualification
Current and valid driver's licence appropriate to the vehicles being serviced
Proven experience as a qualified Motor Mechanic in a professional workshop environment
Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair petrol engines and a broad range of mechanical systems
Proficiency with computer-based diagnostic equipment and workshop management systems
Solid understanding of workplace health and safety obligations within an automotive workshop
Strong attention to detail with the ability to work accurately under time pressure
Effective verbal and written communication skills for liaising with colleagues and customers
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Physically capable of performing the manual demands of the role, including lifting, bending, and extended periods of standing
Preferred Qualifications
Experience servicing hybrid or electric light vehicles
Familiarity with multiple vehicle makes and models, including European, Japanese, and Australian brands
Current automotive industry registration or equivalent licencing where applicable by state or territory
Prior experience conducting roadworthiness inspections and issuing safety certificates
Additional certifications in areas such as air conditioning re-gassing (ARC licence) or auto-electrical systems
Exposure to dealership or high-volume workshop environments
