Our client, Rutherford Fine Foods Pty Ltd t/a Solo Pasta Fitzroy, operates a contemporary Italian restaurant in the vibrant suburb of Fitzroy, Melbourne. The restaurant is renowned for its unique concept of serving fresh handmade pasta by the metre, offering customers an innovative dining experience featuring premium-quality ingredients, freshly prepared sauces and a diverse menu catering to a variety of tastes and dietary requirements. In addition to dine-in and takeaway services, the restaurant offers gluten-free, vegan and zucchini noodle alternatives, reflecting its commitment to quality, creativity and customer satisfaction.

An opportunity is now available for a passionate and reliable Cook to join the kitchen team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality Italian-inspired dishes, maintaining food safety standards and supporting the efficient day-to-day operation of a busy commercial kitchen.

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

-Certificate III or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification), and at least one year of relevant full-time work experience as a Cook.

-Sound knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and commercial kitchen operations.

-Understanding of food safety, hygiene, HACCP and workplace health and safety requirements.

-Experience working in a busy restaurant or hospitality environment.

-A genuine passion for preparing high-quality food and delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will include:

-Prepare, season and cook a variety of fresh pasta dishes, sauces, appetisers,



salads and desserts in accordance with established recipes and quality standards.

-Prepare fresh handmade pasta and assist with daily mise en place to ensure productive kitchen operations.

-Ensure consistency in food quality, portion sizes and presentation across all menu items.

-Maintain food quality throughout preparation and service to maintain high culinary standards.

-Assist in preparing gluten-free, vegan and other special dietary meals while preventing cross-contamination.

-Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of kitchen work areas, equipment, utensils and food storage areas.

-Follow food safety, HACCP and workplace health and safety procedures at all times.

-Maintain stock levels and advise supervisors of ingredient requirements to maintain adequate inventory.

-Assist with receiving, checking, rotating and storing food supplies in accordance with food safety requirements.

-Minimise food wastage through efficient preparation methods and effective stock rotation practices.

-Work collaboratively with chefs and other kitchen staff to ensure timely food preparation during busy lunch and dinner services.

-Report equipment faults or maintenance requirements to management promptly.
