Leader Earthworks is planning to establish a Brisbane office and is looking for a Construction Manager to help make that expansion happen.

Verra Recruitment is partnering exclusively with Leader to appoint a Construction Manager who will play a key role in establishing the Brisbane operation, building the team and supporting the delivery of larger civil and mining projects across South East Queensland and Recent South Wales.

Leader is a self performing civil and mining contractor based in Tweed Heads, delivering earthworks and infrastructure projects across New South Wales and South East Queensland. The business delivers road infrastructure, earthworks, mining works, subdivisions, industrial sites and detailed excavation. They’ve built strong relationships with government, Tier One contractors, developers and private clients, backed by a skilled workforce and a fleet of more than 100 pieces of plant.

Leader started in 2014 and has grown into a contractor known for quality and delivery. They’ve invested heavily in people and plant and continue to expand their civil and mining capability as they take on larger and more complex work.

With the business continuing to grow across South East Queensland, the next step is establishing a Brisbane presence. The successful person will have the opportunity to help shape that operation from the outset and play a significant role in how Leader grows across the region.

The Opportunity
Reporting to the General Manager, you’ll take ownership of project delivery and lift the performance of the construction side of the business. You’ll have real influence across people, delivery, systems and how the business moves into larger civil and mining work.

You’ll work closely with senior management to sharpen how projects are delivered and develop the team. As Leader continues to grow, this role gives you the chance to shape how the organisation operates.





What You'll Be Doing

- Leading the successful delivery of multiple civil construction projects across a diverse portfolio

- Providing leadership, mentoring and support to Project Managers, Engineers, Supervisors and site teams

- Working with the General Manager to strengthen operational performance

- Driving strong outcomes across safety, quality, programme and commercial performance

- Building capability within the construction team and developing future leaders

- Improving systems and the way projects are planned and executed

- Supporting the business as it moves into larger and more complex infrastructure work

- Maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders

You’ll ideally bring:

- Extensive experience delivering civil construction projects within Australia

- Previous experience as a Construction Manager, Project Manager or similar leadership role

- Exposure to civil infrastructure, roads, mining infrastructure, bulk earthworks or large scale earthworks

- Strong commercial understanding and the ability to oversee multiple projects

- A proven ability to lead teams, develop people and drive performance

- A practical and collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence outcomes
