APG Workforce are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing agricultural contracting business specialising in broadacre fertiliser spreading across cropping, sheep and cattle farms.
This family-run operation has been active in the agricultural sector for nearly a decade and is currently expanding its truck spreading services across the Echuca region. The business offers a practical, hands-on work environment where quality work, independence and reliability are highly valued.
About the Role
This is a self-managed, autonomous position suited to a reliable driver who enjoys agricultural work, regional travel and dealing directly with farmers.
You will operate fertiliser spreading trucks and manage daily jobs using industry-based apps, ensuring accurate application and robust customer relationships.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operating fertiliser spreading trucks (automatic)
- Loading fertiliser at depot locations
- Travelling to farms and spreading fertiliser to specified rates
- Understanding paddock layouts and GPS guidance
- Liaising directly with farmers and depot contacts
- Monitoring weather and site conditions
- Basic daily maintenance and care of equipment
- Managing your own
Hours & Work Structure
This role follows a seasonal agricultural workload:
- February – June: Peak season,
up to 6 days per week, approx. 10 hours per day
- June – September: Reduced workload, around 2–3 days per week
- September – January: Minimal work depending on irrigation demand
- Early starts, long days and weekend work may be required during peak periods, subject to weather conditions.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- HR licence (minimum requirement) with a clean driving record
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Comfortable working outdoors in regional environments
- Strong communication skills and customer-facing confidence
- Reliable, mature and self-motivated attitude
Desirable (but not essential):
- HC licence (support available for the right candidate to obtain HC)
- Agricultural or fertiliser spreading experience
- Loader ticket (training can be provided)
- Mechanical, engineering, welding or earthmoving experience
- Familiarity with GPS or ag-based technology
- First Aid certification
