Aberfeldie Jets Basketball Club is seeking a Casual Basketball Operations Lead to help run the day-to-day basketball operations of one of the largest junior domestic basketball clubs in the area.
This role is focused on the core operations of our domestic program, including player assessment, coach coordination, team formation, seasonal readiness, and the coordination of development programs, camps and basketball events. It is well suited to someone with strong basketball knowledge, sound judgement, coaching experience and the ability to work with volunteers, families and club leaders in a community sport environment.
What you'll be doing
As the Basketball Operations Lead, you will:
Coordinate player assessment processes for existing players, waitlist players and players seeking movement to higher teams
Maintain operational records and working files relating to player assessment, grading input, coach allocations and team formation
Work with Age Group Coordinators to prepare team lists each season
Coordinate the coach expression of interest process and support coach appointments
Run coach induction and early-season follow-up for recent coaches
Provide practical support to coaches and assist with training or assessment sessions where required
Coordinate the delivery of club development programs, including design, coordination and operational oversight
Support the planning and delivery of basketball camps, clinics, come and try sessions and other club events
Triage basketball operations queries from volunteers, coaches and team managers
Prepare recommendations and supporting information for more complex decisions or escalations
Work within club policies, approved processes and governance arrangements
What we're looking for
Strong knowledge of junior basketball, including player development, team grading and coach support
Experience in coaching,
basketball operations, team selection, player development programs or program coordination
Good judgement and the ability to assess players and support team placement decisions
Strong organisation skills and confidence working with spreadsheets, records and operational processes
Clear and respectful communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with volunteers, committee members, coaches and families
A calm and practical approach in a busy seasonal environment
Commitment to child safety, fairness and inclusive community sport
Casual position, indicative average of around 15 to 20 hours per week during school terms, depending on the basketball calendar and club needs
Higher availability will be required in the lead-up to each season and in early season periods
Limited or no hours may apply during parts of the school holidays and Christmas shutdown
Some evening and weekend availability is required.

With a focus on fostering a positive and inclusive club culture, the Aberfeldie Jets participate in the Keilor and Broadmeadows Basketball Associations junior domestic competitions in addition to providing Jets skills development clinics for new and experienced players.
As part of our continued growth, we are expanding our basketball operations capability to better support players, coaches, development programs and the overall delivery of our domestic basketball offering.
