We are currently seeking a reliable and safety-focused Yardperson / Forklift Operator to join a busy and dynamic yard operation based in Emerald . This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, operating machinery, and being part of a practical, team-oriented setting.
The Role
Your duties will include:
Plant & Equipment Operation
- Operating a forklift to load and move cardboard and recyclable materials safely
- Operating an 8-tonne excavator to load waste into designated bins
- Conducting daily pre-start checks and reporting faults
Yard Operations
- General yard tidying, cleaning and housekeeping
- Managing waste and recyclable material streams
- Baling cardboard and assisting with waste processing
- Maintaining clear and safe access areas
Paper Shredding & Waste Processing
- Undertaking shredding duties in line with confidentiality procedures
- Handling materials safely and in accordance with environmental guidelines
Safety & Compliance
- Working in accordance with WHS policies and site procedures
- Using PPE correctly at all times
- Reporting hazards, incidents and near misses promptly
End of Shift Duties
- Correctly shutting down and securing plant
- Leaving the yard clean, safe and organised
About You
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- Current Forklift Licence (essential)
- Truck Licence (highly desirable)
- Experience operating plant and equipment in a yard or similar environment
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
- Ability to work safely around moving vehicles and machinery
- Reliable work ethic and team-focused attitude
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing
