St Andrew’s College is a world-class University College within the University of Sydney, providing 400 residential students breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week. We cater for many events, from VIP lunches for 2 guests, up to 250 sit-down dinner guests.
The College is seeking a Kitchen Assistant / Kitchen Hand to support the day-to-day operations of the kitchen through food preparation and maintenance of a clean & hygienic work setting. The role will work across a 7-day roster, with the flexibility to accept additional shifts as and when they become available.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assisting the chefs in the preparation of food including mainly cold foods e.g. salads, fruit and vegetables, and sandwiches
Receiving, storing, handling, sorting and distributing food items
Cleaning benches, floors and other kitchen areas
Washing and cleaning utensils and dishes
Disposing of rubbish
Ensuring the kitchen is maintained in a clean and sanitary condition
Implementing all hygiene and Health & Safety regulations
The successful applicant must have:
Current experience working in a high-volume food service venue, function centre, hotel, restaurant or other commercial kitchen environment
Be a team player
Ability to follow directives and a willingness to learn new skills
Have full working rights in Australia
Previous experience in a College/School environment is highly regarded
