Job Purpose
The Site Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising multiple on-site construction teams across a range of active work fronts. With a proactive approach to planning and problem solving, the role ensures projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality, cost and program standards. The Site Manager oversees subcontractor performance, site operations, WHS compliance, environmental controls and day-to-day site coordination while maintaining strong communication with the Project Manager and all project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, monitor and update construction programs to ensure on‑time delivery.
- Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers to maintain workflow and avoid delays.
- Coordinate multiple site teams and work fronts, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to maintain productivity across concurrent projects.
- Proactively identify potential issues and manage competing priorities
- Identify design or construction alternatives that improve cost, time, quality or safety.
- Attend regular subcontractor meetings and track progress against program.
- Manage direct labour costs in line with budget expectations.
- Maintain a clean, safe and well‑presented site with appropriate signage.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with all site personnel.
- Respond promptly and professionally to client enquiries and elevate issues when required.
- Ensure full WHS compliance, conduct site inductions and complete weekly safety inspections.
- Review SWMS, monitor on‑site practices and enforce safe work methods.
- Identify environmental risks, implement controls and ensure subcontractor compliance.
- Support team communication and contribute to a collaborative site culture.
- Implement BY Group’s quality systems, monitor workmanship and ensure defects are rectified.
- Maintain accurate daily site records, photographic evidence and documentation of changes.
- Ensure variation instructions align with approved scope and Project Manager direction.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Proven experience as a Site Manager or Foreman in construction.
- Experience delivering subdivision projects, large civil warehouse developments or similar large-scale civil construction projects is highly regarded.
- Experience in bulk earthworks, roads and retaining walls will be viewed favourably.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple teams and concurrent work fronts while maintaining safety, quality and program outcomes.
- Trade qualification or equivalent, with strong technical knowledge of construction methods.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings and technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of WHS, environmental and industrial relations requirements.
- Experience delivering mid‑tier residential or commercial projects (over $10m desirable).
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and motivate site teams.
- Excellent verbal communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Advanced computer skills and familiarity with construction management software.
- Strong organisational, planning and time‑management capability.
