Scientia Clinical Research Ltd isa dedicated, not-for-profit, early-phase (Phase 1) clinical trials facility, that conducts studies for healthy volunteers and patients in areas like oncology. We are located at the Prince of Wales Hospital campus, Randwick NSW, and are equipped with an on-site laboratory, pharmacy, and a specialized cleanroom for compounding and manufacturing. We focus on first-in-human studies and collaborate with local research institutions to translate pre-clinical research into clinical trials.
Scientia Clinical Research (SCR) is seeking an experienced and commercially focused Proposals Manager to join our growing team. This is a full-time role. This is an exciting opportunity for a clinical research coordinator professional who is passionate about early-phase clinical research, business development, strategic growth, and building strong sponsor partnerships.
Working closely with Sponsors, CROs, Business Development, Clinical Operations, Medical Services, Recruitment, Finance, and Quality teams, you will manage and coordinate the development of proposals, budgets, feasibility assessments, and bid strategies for SCR's Healthy Volunteer Phase I clinical trial portfolio . You will play a critical role in coordinating the various operational, organisation and technical aspects that lead to the securing of new clinical research opportunities by delivering high-quality, commercially competitive submissions that align with sponsor requirements and organisational objectives.
This role is ideally suited to an individual with a strong understanding of early-phase clinical trials who enjoys combining the coordination of operational knowledge with commercial strategy to develop innovative solutions and drive business growth.
About the Role
As Proposals Manager , you will play a central role in evaluating new study opportunities, developing competitive proposals,
and supporting the continued growth of Scientia's Healthy Volunteer clinical trial portfolio. Acting as the key coordinator throughout the proposal lifecycle, you will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to assess and analyse feasibility, produce reports, develop costings, prepare budgets, and deliver compelling submissions and advice that meet sponsor expectations and support long-term business success.
You will analyse protocols and Requests for Proposal (RFPs), assess operational requirements, recruitment strategies, and study complexity, and translate these into practical and viable solutions. Working collaboratively with Clinical Operations, Medical Services, Recruitment, Finance, Quality, and Business Development teams, you will also coordinate various processes to ensure the preparation of proposals that are accurate, competitive, operationally feasible, and aligned with organisational capabilities.
In this role, you will coordinate and manage proposal development from initial feasibility review through to submission, develop study budgets and financial models, participate in sponsor and bid defence meetings, and contribute to pricing strategy and profitability objectives. You will also maintain proposal templates and costing tools, monitor proposal performance metrics, identify process improvement opportunities, and provide guidance on proposal development best practice across the organisation.
This is a highly team-oriented role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced clinical research environment and enjoys managing and coordinating various projects.
What You'll Bring
- Tertiary qualification in Life Sciences, Health Sciences, Business, or a related discipline.
- Experience in large and complex project coordination
- Experience within a CRO, pharmaceutical company, or clinical research environment, ideally within a site-based Phase I setting.
- Strong knowledge of Healthy Volunteer Phase I clinical trial operations and feasibility assessment.
- Proven experience developing clinical trial proposals, budgets, costings, and financial models.
- Ability to interpret protocols and RFPs and deliver commercially viable solutions.
- Strong commercial acumen, proposal writing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience presenting to sponsors and participating in bid defence activities.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with CRM systems, preferably Salesforce.
- Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- A collaborative, proactive approach and a passion for supporting the growth of early-phase clinical research.
- Most importantly, you'll bring a commercial mindset, strong relationship-building skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality proposals that drive business growth and sponsor success.
