This role offers a genuine mix of technical engineering and commercial responsibility, allowing you to influence project outcomes from the tender stage through to manufacture and delivery. You'll work collaboratively across multiple departments to ensure engineering solutions are practical, cost effective and aligned with customer requirements, while helping optimise production planning and project delivery.

As Plastek continues to invest in smarter systems and technology, we're looking for someone who is comfortable leveraging modern digital tools, including AI, advanced Excel capabilities and ERP systems, to improve estimating accuracy, planning efficiency and business performance.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare detailed cost estimates for precast concrete and underground infrastructure products.
- Support tender submissions, pricing strategies and project feasibility assessments.
- Develop and maintain production schedules aligned with manufacturing capacity and customer delivery requirements.
- Coordinate production sequencing and logistics planning.
- Utilise ERP systems, advanced Excel and emerging AI tools to improve estimating, reporting and workflow efficiency.
- Provide engineering input to ensure products are practical, efficient and buildable.
- Liaise with customers and internal stakeholders to clarify project scope and technical requirements.
- Monitor estimating and scheduling performance, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

What We Are Looking For

- Degree qualified Civil Engineer or equivalent.

- Previous experience within civil construction, infrastructure or precast concrete.
- Solid estimating and project scheduling capability.
- High level proficiency using ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel.
- An interest in applying AI and digital technologies to improve engineering and business processes.
- Ability to confidently interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- High level analytical, problem solving and communication skills.
- Ability to build strong working relationships across engineering, production and commercial teams.

Experience within the precast concrete industry will be highly regarded, as will exposure to underground infrastructure products and estimating or scheduling software. However, we also encourage applications from experienced engineers with transferable skills who are looking to bring fresh ideas and a modern, technology focused approach to the role.

Why Apply

- Secure long term opportunity with an established Australian manufacturer.
- Exposure to a diverse range of civil and infrastructure projects.
- Opportunity to influence engineering, estimating and production outcomes.
- Work with a business embracing technology, innovation and smarter ways of working.
- Supportive and collaborative team environment.
- Long term career development within a growing regional business.
- Enjoy the lifestyle benefits of living and working in Ballarat, with affordable housing, excellent amenities and an outstanding work life balance.
