Job Purpose
The Graduate Engineer supports the successful delivery of BY Group construction projects by assisting the engineering team, Site Managers and Project Managers with project coordination, site activities and contract administration. This role provides practical experience across a range of civil construction projects while developing technical, commercial and project management skills to support safe, efficient and high-quality project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Engineering Team with the planning, coordination and delivery of Civil Construction projects.
- Support Site Managers and Project Managers with day-to-day site activities and project administration.
- Monitor site progress and assist with coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and project resources.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including site diaries, meeting minutes, progress reports and correspondence.
- Assist with contract administration, purchase orders, variations, invoices and progress claims.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and project documentation.
- Assist with project planning, programming and cost tracking to support on-time and on-budget delivery.
- Assist with conducting site inspections and monitoring work to ensure compliance with project specifications, WHS requirements and quality standards.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and provide support across the engineering and project delivery teams as required.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or a related discipline, or currently completing your final year of study.
- Strong interest in civil construction and project delivery.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced computer skills, with experience using Microsoft Office. Exposure to MS Project, Bluebeam or Procore is advantageous.
- Willingness to learn and develop practical engineering and project delivery skills.
