Barron Valley Hotel is a heritage-listed hotel. It is situated in the heart of Atherton, on the Tropical Tablelands. The hotel provides a wide variety of facilities and services for visitors including accommodation, restaurant and bar and bottle shops.

The Barron Valley Hotel has a vacancy opening for a Cook. We are looking for a qualified and experienced candidate to join our team.

Major Duties and Responsibilities of Position:

- Setting up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
- Preparing ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
- Check quality of ingredients
- Seasons food according to recipes or company needs
- Prepare, serve and store food items in regards to the requirements of the Kitchen
- Prepares food before the arrival of the guests
- Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements
- Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
- Portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes
- Assists other cooks during the food assembly process
- Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages




- Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
- Cleans food preparation areas as determined by law and Hotel policy
- Liaise and work with the Head Chef and Sous Chef and assist them to ensure protected and efficient production of food, while maintaining all statutory requirements
- Establish and maintain effective employee working relationships

Desirable Qualifications and Skills:

- Certificate 111 in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) or equivalent is a minimum requirement.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Cook.
- Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware
- Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
- Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team environment
