Our client, the Australian Steel Institute (ASI), is Australia’s peak body representing the entire steel supply chain from manufacturing through to end users. It is a member-based organisation and provides marketing and technical leadership to promote Australian-made steel as the preferred material to industries and policy advocacy to government.
They are seeking a State Manager NSW/ACT to drive its strategic, business and marketing objectives through aligned state-based services and activities.
The opportunity:
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Preparing an annual state-based plan and budget that outlines activities and agreed deliverables
- Organising and delivering an agreed calendar of events including technical seminars, training and education programs, marketing presentations, industry briefings and networking functions to maintain and grow ASI profile and membership
- Providing support for state and national events through sponsorships and member participation that drives membership renewals and new memberships
- Developing and maintaining relationships with key industry, departmental, government and university staff.
- Advocating and influencing positive changes in policy and legislation at a State and Federal level and producing high quality submissions and briefs
- Promoting the ASI National Structural Steelwork Compliance Scheme to government and industry
- Providing regular updates and progress reports including on any assigned national specialised portfolio and projects
To be successful in his role you will ideally have:
- 7+ years of demonstrated steel or related industry experience incorporating an in-depth knowledge of the construction; fabrication; or manufacturing sectors
- 5+ years of experience in operations management or team leadership and ideally a similar level of experience in business development and technical marketing
- Experience, knowledge and understanding of technical issues and key principles in construction and manufacturing
- A relevant tertiary qualification
- A strategic mindset with the ability to develop, manage and execute state plans to agreed budgets
- Highly developed stakeholder management skills, with solid capability in influencing and negotiating
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to articulate complex issues and strong presentation skills
- Excellent time management, project management and planning skills
- Valuable understanding of the Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
- A highly professional approach, initiative, flexibility and achievement orientation
This is a part time position (3 days per week). A hybrid work from office/work from home arrangement or a fully work from home arrangement is negotiable.
The position is ideally based in Sydney, however suitable candidates from other locations within the NSW/ACT region will be considered.
