Position Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented and commercially minded Accountant to join our finance team in a broad, compliance-focused role. The successful candidate will bring robust technical accounting knowledge across financial reporting, auditing, taxation, and advisory services. This role suits a qualified skilled who thrives in a dynamic environment and is confident managing both routine financial functions and complex financial investigations.

You will play a key part in supporting sound financial decision-making across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements for boards of directors, management, shareholders, and statutory bodies, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and legislative requirements.
- Assist in the development and review of budgetary and accounting policies to support sound organisational financial management.
- Conduct financial investigations and prepare detailed reports on matters including suspected fraud, business acquisitions and disposals, mergers, capital financing, and insolvency proceedings.
- Examine operating costs, income, and expenditure to identify variances, inefficiencies, and opportunities for financial improvement.
- Undertake internal and external audits, providing assurance over the accuracy of financial information and adherence to statutory obligations.
- Deliver expert advice on taxation matters, including the preparation of tax returns and guidance on business structures, plans, and ongoing operations.
- Introduce, implement, and maintain accounting systems, including advising on the selection and application of computer-based and cloud accounting platforms.
- Maintain and strengthen internal control systems to safeguard organisational assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.




- Manage funds and oversee cash flow to support operational needs and longer-term financial planning.
- Appraise the financial viability and risk profile of capital investment projects, providing recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support budgeting cycles, financial forecasting, and management reporting.
- Ensure all financial activities are conducted in accordance with Australian accounting standards, taxation law, and relevant regulatory frameworks.

Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Full membership or active progress towards membership with CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ), or an equivalent recognised professional body.
- Demonstrated experience in a general accounting role, with exposure to financial reporting, auditing, and taxation.
- Sound knowledge of Australian accounting standards (AASB), tax legislation, and statutory compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as MYOB, Xero, or similar platforms, along with strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Proven ability to prepare financial statements, management reports, and board-level documentation to a high standard.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to examine complex financial data, identify issues, and communicate findings clearly.
- Experience maintaining internal controls and contributing to audit processes.




- High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with strong organisational and time management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with stakeholders at all levels.

Preferred Qualifications
- Completed CPA or CA qualification with current membership in good standing.
- Experience in forensic accounting, insolvency, or financial investigations.
- Exposure to capital investment appraisal, financial modelling, or corporate advisory work.
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.
- Prior experience in a public practice or Big 4 / mid-tier accounting firm environment.
- Postgraduate qualifications such as a Master of Accounting, Commerce, or Business Administration.
