About the role:

The purpose of this position isto provide support through hosting social activities that will enable people to overcome or avoid social isolation, live happier and fulfilling lives in their community in a manner that is reflective of STAR Community Services’ values of respect, dignity and empowerment. This role is client focused and aims is to provide clients with opportunities to engage in social activities, enjoy new experiences and meet current people.

About the Organisation:

STAR Community Services is an award-winning not-for-profit supporting elderly and people with disabilities since 1996. We provide affordable, reliable aged care and disability services—including Support at Home, NDIS, transport, social activities, and companionship—to help clients live independently and stay connected. With help from dedicated staff and local volunteers, we serve Redlands, Ipswich, Logan, Gold Coast, and Toowoomba.

STAR is committed to building inclusive communities and combating social isolation through regular programs and events.

Key Responsibilities:

- To assist clients to participate in community life and to feelsocially included and to maintain and support their independence and social interactions with others.
- Have read, understand and agree to follow the STAR Social Practice Guide.
- Meeting and greeting clients at designated venues or at their door as directed.
- Ensure all registered attendees are present or accounted for.
- Provide clients with an overview of each activity and handle enquiries, by providing information or passing enquiries onto the
- Assist with ushering clients to and from venues, ensuring the seating arrangements in venue are appropriate, assist clients to place orders (for morning tea, beverages and lunch orders).
- Encourage social interactions via ice breakers and social activities
- Facilitate introductions between clients and ensure clients are comfortable and are able to participate in and enjoy the activity.




- Conduct environmental risk assessments and report any risk/s or incidents associated with activities immediately to CHSP Coordinator.
- Be actively involved in all STAR Social activities and be willing to be included in the roster of hosts.
- Other duties as requested by CHSP Coordinator.

Key Performance Indicators 1. Safety and Compliance

- Zero incidents related to unsafe work practices or Participant safety breaches.
- Full compliance with infection control, manual handling, and organizational policies as evidenced in routine audits or supervisor observations.
- 100% of registered attendees accounted for (present, communicated absence, or follow-up recorded)

2. Communication and Reporting

- Timely and accurate documentation of services delivered after each service day.
- Prompt reporting of any client concerns or changes in needs to CHSP Coordinator.
- Conduct monthly meetings with clients to gage program ideas and feedback.

3. Participant Relationship Management

- Positive feedback from clients and/or families demonstrating respectful, empathetic, and culturally appropriate interactions.
- Contribute at least two suggestions per quarter for improving social programs, activities, or client engagement.

4. Outing Management

- Ensure that outings are staffed with the appropriate number of companions and that all companions are provided with the necessary information, such as the Charter Itinerary, to effectively assist and support the clients during the activity.
- If traveling as a companion on a Charter, take the lead role in managing the outing and ensuring client safety and well-being

5. Quality Assurance

- Ensure all activities are delivered in line with the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) guidelines,



and comply with the Aged Care Quality Standards for Social Support Group (SSG) and Individual Social Support (ISS) programs.

- Promote and uphold principles of equity, inclusion, and anti-discrimination in service delivery.
- Actively contribute to team collaboration, organisational goals, and service improvement initiatives.
- Participate in ongoing training, supervision, and professional development to maintain and enhance your skills.
- Stay informed about STAR’s services and apply this knowledge in your day-to-day support work.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely client records and documentation.
- Report concerns or service delivery issues to the relevant supervisor / manager promptly.
- Operate within STAR’s defined service delivery limits and support continuous improvement through client feedback and suggestions.

- Basic Literacy and Numeracy skills to complete documentation.
- Unrestricted Current Drivers License and access to a registered roadworthy vehicle with comprehensive insurance cover.

Pay: $27.55 per hour
