About the role

HighAir-Tech Australia is seeking Air Conditioning Apprentices (1-4 years experience) and experienced, qualified technicians to join our growing team. This is a full-time position based in Hoppers Crossing, VIC 3029. Whether you are in the early stages of your apprenticeship or an established professional, we offer exciting opportunities to develop your skills in the air conditioning and refrigeration industry.

You will work on a variety of commercial and residential projects, gaining hands-on experience with modern air conditioning systems, installation, maintenance, and repair work.

Key responsibilities For Apprentices (1-4 years):

- Assisting qualified technicians with the installation, maintenance and repair of air conditioning systems
- Learning and applying refrigeration principles and safety protocols on job sites
- Performing routine maintenance tasks under supervision, including cleaning filters, checking refrigerant levels and inspecting components
- Assisting with the diagnosis of system faults and contributing to troubleshooting activities
- Maintaining accurate records of work completed and parts used
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards on all projects
- Continuing your formal apprenticeship training and technical studies

For Experienced and Qualified Technicians:

- Installing, commissioning, maintaining and repairing commercial and residential air conditioning systems
- Diagnosing complex system faults and implementing effective solutions
- Conducting preventative maintenance programmes and servicing contracts
- Supervising and mentoring apprentices and junior staff members
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics and system specifications
- Ensuring all work complies with relevant regulations, codes and safety standards
- Managing customer relationships and providing professional service advice
- Maintaining detailed job documentation and equipment records





What we're looking for For Apprentices (1-4 years):

- Currently enrolled in or recently completed an air conditioning or refrigeration apprenticeship programme
- Between 1-4 years of relevant apprenticeship or work experience in the air conditioning industry
- Sound knowledge of basic refrigeration principles and air conditioning system operation
- Practical experience with hand tools and power tools commonly used in the trade
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver's license and reliable transport
- Physical fitness to perform manual work and access confined spaces
- Willingness to continue formal training and professional development

For Experienced and Qualified Technicians:

- Current air conditioning and refrigeration licence or equivalent qualification (HVAC qualification or similar recognised certification)
- Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in commercial and/or residential air conditioning installation, maintenance and repair
- Comprehensive knowledge of refrigeration systems, electrical components and control systems
- Proficiency in system diagnostics, troubleshooting and fault rectification
- Experience with EPA/statutory compliance and environmental regulations related to refrigerants
- Proven ability to work safely and follow strict health and safety standards
- Strong customer service skills and professional communication abilities
- Valid driver's license and own reliable transport
- Ability to supervise and mentor junior staff members




- Up-to-date knowledge of current air conditioning technologies and industry best practices
