Apprentice Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME)
We are seeking two Apprentice Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AMEs) to join our Engineering team based at Jandakot Airport.
As an Apprentice AME, you will work alongside experienced aviation professionals, gaining hands-on experience in aircraft maintenance while completing a nationally recognised qualification. Under close supervision, you will assist with aircraft inspections, fault diagnosis, repairs, modifications, and maintenance activities. You will also play an important role in ensuring RFDS aircraft are maintained to the highest standards of presentation and cleanliness.

About The Role As part of your apprenticeship, you will:
- Learn to interpret and apply aviation and RFDS maintenance manuals
- Develop practical hand skills and maintenance techniques
- Assist with the removal and installation of aircraft components
- Work towards testing, troubleshooting, and fault-finding on aircraft systems and parts
- Support the inspection, repair, and maintenance of aircraft, systems, materials, and components
You will also help ensure aircraft and workspaces are maintained to the highest standard by:
- Cleaning aircraft interiors in accordance with established procedures
- Reporting any aircraft damage identified during cleaning activities
- Maintaining clean and safe hangar and workshop environments
- Ensuring cleaning equipment is maintained in good condition
- Updating and maintaining aircraft cleaning records
- Coordinating with Engineering teams to schedule aircraft cleaning activities
- Working with Stores to maintain adequate supplies of cleaning materials
About You We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, reliable, and eager to build a career in aviation engineering. To Be Successful, You Will Have
- A genuine interest in aviation and a commitment to completing a Certificate IV in Aeroskills (Mechanical) (approximately four years)
- A valid Australian Driver's Licence, or be working towards obtaining one
- Strong attention to detail and a focus on quality
- Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team

Recruitment Process Successful shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview and participate in a three-to-five-day work experience placement within our Engineering team. These trial days provide an opportunity for both you and the RFDS Engineering team to gain a better understanding of the role, the work environment, and your suitability for a career as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer.
