As an Apprentice Mechanic at Country Diesel, you will play a vital role in supporting our qualified mechanics in delivering high-quality automotive services. This full-time apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a busy workshop environment while developing your skills in mechanical repair and diagnostics. You will be part of a dedicated team committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality in automotive service.
Responsibilities:
- Assist qualified mechanics with vehicle inspections and diagnostic procedures using the Fullbay checklist and workshop procedures.
- Support mechanics in identifying faults and documenting findings accurately in Fullbay.
- Assist with mechanical servicing and repair tasks under supervision while learning correct repair procedures.
- Record labour activities, parts used and work completed in Fullbay as directed by supervising mechanics.
- Ensure parts used during repairs are allocated correctly to job cards in the system.
- Follow workshop checklists and procedures to maintain repair quality, consistency and safety standards.
- Notify supervising mechanics or the Service Adviser when additional faults, delays or issues are identified during repairs.
- Assist mechanics and the Service Adviser by ensuring accurate job notes and updates are recorded in Fullbay.
- Maintain a safe working environment by following workplace safety procedures and workshop policies.
- Keep work bays clean and organised, return tools and equipment to designated locations and assist with workshop housekeeping.
- Participate in all required trade training and learning activities as part of the apprenticeship programme.
- Follow all company policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS).
Qualifications:
- Currently undertaking or enrolled in an Automotive or Diesel Mechanic apprenticeship.
- Valid driver’s licence preferred.
- Basic mechanical knowledge or prior exposure to workshop environments desirable.
- Strong willingness to learn mechanical repair techniques and workshop processes.
- Ability to follow instructions and established workshop procedures.
- Positive communication skills with mechanics, service advisers and workshop staff.
- Attention to detail when completing checklists and recording job information.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a busy workshop environment.
