ATE Tankers Pty Ltd is a proudly Australian-owned engineering, manufacturing and service company specialising in road tankers, vacuum tankers and specialised transport equipment. Due to continued growth and the acquisition of new business contracts, we are seeking a motivated 1st Year Apprentice Trailer Mechanic to join our experienced Service & Repair team at Sunshine West.
This is an excellent opportunity to commence your career in the heavy vehicle industry, working on some of Australia's most specialised trailer and tanker equipment while learning from highly skilled tradespeople.
What You'll Be Doing
As an Apprentice Trailer Mechanic, you'll receive hands-on training while completing your apprenticeship. Working alongside qualified mechanics, you'll learn to:
- Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on tanker trailers and heavy transport equipment.
- Diagnose and repair braking, suspension, axle and wheel-end components.
- Repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Service vacuum tanker equipment and associated mechanical components.
- Perform mechanical repairs using industry best practices.
- Use workshop tools, diagnostic equipment and lifting equipment safely.
- Complete quality inspections and workshop documentation.
- Work safely while maintaining ATE's high standards of workmanship and customer service.

What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who:
- Has completed Year 10, 11 or 12.
- Has a genuine interest in heavy vehicles and mechanical repairs.
- Is mechanically minded and enjoys working with tools.
- Has a strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude.
- Takes pride in producing quality work.
- Is reliable, punctual and willing to learn.
- Works well within a team environment.
- Has excellent attention to detail.
- Can provide at least two references (school, personal or employment).
Applicants must currently reside in Australia and hold the appropriate working rights. A current driver's licence or learner permit is desirable but not essential.
