About The Role And Team
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Associate to join our Dispute Resolution section, based in our Melbourne office.
Our Dispute Resolution section has over 120 team members nationally working across all facets of commercial dispute resolution and litigation, including commercial and contractual disputes, banking and financial services litigation, intellectual property, insolvency, public sector, property and construction disputes, regulatory investigations and tax disputes.
This role offers varied and complex work in the areas of commercial disputes and regulatory investigations litigation. This is a fantastic hands-on role, with significant learning, development and progression opportunities, and the prospect to work with interesting clients and complex matters.
You Will Be Responsible For:
- advising on complex commercial disputes and regulatory investigations matters;
- drafting court documents, advices, pleadings, preparation of evidence, briefs to counsel and correspondence;
- acting for and against regulators in investigations across the financial services, skilled services and Commonwealth and State public sectors;
- providing specialist legal advice on complex legal issues, including negotiation and alternative dispute resolution.
About You
You will ideally have the following skills and experience:

- between 2 and 5 years of post-admission experience in Australia is essential;
- a strong academic record;
- experience in general commercial litigation and/or regulatory investigations, ideally from a large or medium sized law firm;
- a strong desire to work on commercial litigation and regulatory investigation matters;
- strong communication and drafting skills, with outstanding attention to detail;
- the ability to confidently run matters through dispute resolution processes with minimal oversight;
- the ability to handle a busy workload with competing timelines;
- exposure to regulatory investigations, public inquiries, Royal Commissions or enforcement actions will be highly regarded; and
- experience in fraud, misconduct, compliance, integrity or governance-related disputes and investigations would be advantageous.
