About the Role
We're looking for a passionate and driven Athletic Performance Coach to support delivery of our high-performance U21s (NRLQ/Academy) program. Based at the Dolphins Training Facility in Redcliffe and reporting to the NRL Head of Performance, you'll design and coordinate the strength and conditioning, rehabilitation and athletic performance programs that prepare emerging athletes for the demands of elite rugby league as they transition into the NRL system. This role focuses on the management and coordination of the programs whilst also being involved with our NRL squad on a day-to-day basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the delivery of integrated physical optimisation programs for NRLQ,
in conjunction with Performance, Sports Medicine and Coaching staff
- Design and manage individualised physical development programs for identified Transition pathway athletes, aligned with the Dolphins' S&C; framework
- Develop and deliver injury prevention, rehabilitation and return-to-play programs alongside the NRL Rehabilitation Coach and medical team
- Support the design and delivery of year-round strength, conditioning, speed and agility programs across the Development Pathway
- Contribute to nutrition, supplementation and anthropometric programs across squads, in partnership with specialist staff
- Manage the collection, interpretation and reporting of sports science data, including strength training templates and monitoring methodologies
- Build and maintain strong relationships with players, coaches, medical staff and external providers to support athlete development and wellbeing
- Provide regular physical performance reporting across NRLQ, QCup and Academy athletes
- Contribute to research, innovation and continuous improvement in physical performance practice
- Provide mentoring support to developmental strength and conditioning coaches
Skills & Knowledge
- High attention to detail,
with strong data management and reporting skills, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience providing medical support and rehabilitation services to qualified athletes
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and build trust across a multidisciplinary performance team
- Ability to work flexibly, including early mornings and weekends, in line with the training and match schedule
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor degree in Exercise Science or equivalent (essential)
- ASCA Level 2 Strength & Conditioning Coach Accreditation and ASCA Professional Coach Accreditation Scheme Accreditation (required)
- Rehabilitation program experience (required)
- Current First Aid certificate (required)
- Minimum 3 years' full-time strength and conditioning coaching experience with national-level athletes in elite sport (required)
- Master's degree in Exercise Science or equivalent (desirable)
