Role Description The Audio Visual Technician is a contract role based in Melbourne, VIC, with a hybrid work arrangement that combines on-site event support and some work from home. Day-to-day responsibilities include setting up, operating, and dismantling audio visual (AV) equipment for meetings, events, and presentations, including sound systems, projectors, lighting, and video conferencing tools.
The technician will configure and test equipment, perform troubleshooting to resolve technical issues, and ensure all AV components function reliably before and during events.
The role also involves coordinating with event organizers and internal teams, managing equipment inventory, and maintaining clear documentation of setups and configurations.
Qualifications
- Robust proficiency in Audio Visual (AV) Systems, including configuration, integration, and operation for various event environments.
- Ability to troubleshoot AV issues quickly and effectively, diagnosing problems with hardware, cabling, and software settings.
- Experience with Video Conferencing platforms and equipment, ensuring high-quality audio and video for hybrid and virtual events.
- Practical knowledge of Lighting and Projectors, including setup, focusing, basic programming, and optimization for different venues.
- Relevant technical certification or training in AV technology, IT, or related fields is beneficial.
- Previous experience in event production, corporate AV support, or similar technical roles.
- Robust communication skills and the ability to collaborate with clients, presenters, and venue staff.
- Capacity to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, depending on event schedules.
- Demonstrated ability to lift and handle AV equipment safely and adhere to workplace health and safety standards.
