About the role:

We are excited to offer an opportunity for an Emerging Future Shaper to join Orica’s Summer Internship Program as an Automation/Robotics Intern within our Technology & Innovation team.

In this internship, you will work alongside experienced professionals on interesting and challenging automation projects, gaining practical exposure to research, design, prototyping, testing, analysis and technical documentation.

This is an excellent opportunity for a student who enjoys combining engineering thinking, technology and hands-on problem-solving. You will contribute to meaningful project work while learning how automation and robotics can be developed and applied safely in an industrial workplace.

The internship will be based at Orica’s Windsor office in Brisbane.

What you will be doing:

Automation & Robotics Project Support

- Support research, design and development activities for automation and robotics initiatives.
- Assist with prototype assembly, testing, data collection and performance evaluation.
- Contribute to technical documentation, test records and project updates.
- Help identify practical improvements based on test results and stakeholder feedback.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

- Work collaboratively with engineers, researchers and other technical stakeholders.
- Participate in project discussions and share observations, ideas and learnings.




- Apply safe working practices throughout laboratory, workshop and project activities.
- Contribute to an inclusive team culture focused on curiosity, learning and innovation.

What you will bring:

- Currently completing a relevant tertiary qualification in Automation, Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
- An interest in robotics, automation, control systems, prototyping or emerging technologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an eagerness to learn through practical experience.
- The ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with people from different technical backgrounds.
- A commitment to safety, inclusion and respectful ways of working.
- Availability to participate for the full Summer Internship Program period and to work from the advertised location.
