Role Description This part time remote Backend Developer / Node.js Developer role at Lab Grown Diamonds Magazine focuses on building and maintaining scalable, secure backend services that support our digital publication platform. The developer collaborates with product and content teams to design APIs, integrate data sources, and optimize performance for web and mobile experiences. Day-to-day tasks include implementing new features, refactoring and improving existing code, writing and maintaining unit/integration tests, and troubleshooting production issues.
The role also involves participating in code reviews, documenting technical solutions, and contributing to architectural decisions that ensure reliability and maintainability of the platform.
Qualifications
Back-End Web Development and Software Development skills, including experience designing RESTful APIs and working with Node.js or similar JavaScript-based server frameworks.
JavaScript expertise, with strong understanding of modern ES standards and best practices for clean,
maintainable code.
Front-End Development skills, with familiarity in integrating backend services with web front ends and handling client-server communication.
Experience with Redux.js or similar state management tools, and understanding of how backend services support stateful user interfaces.
Knowledge of databases (SQL or NoSQL), data modeling, and query optimization.
Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and team-oriented development workflows.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage time effectively, and communicate clearly with distributed teams.
Understanding of web security, performance optimization, and basic DevOps concepts (deployment, monitoring, logging) is beneficial.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
